MT. Mimosa Spa & Residence is a wellness facility and private residence designed specifically to support individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The project addresses the unique physical, sensory, and emotional challenges associated with MS, including mobility limitations, chronic fatigue, pain, and hypersensitivity. The primary objective was to create a therapeutic environment that promotes healing, comfort, accessibility, and resilience while providing a seamless integration between wellness services and residential living.
Inspired by the Mimosa pudica, or "sensitive plant," the design embraces biomimicry as its guiding concept. The project incorporates adaptive design strategies, biophilic elements, therapeutic lighting, air purification systems, sustainable materials, sensory-responsive environments, hydrotherapy facilities, and fully ADA-compliant planning. By combining advanced wellness technologies with nature-inspired design, the project creates a holistic environment that supports physical recovery, emotional well-being, and everyday independence while empowering users to thrive despite the challenges of chronic illness.
